Description: The Mission of the American Vintners Association is to enhance the public perception and business environment of American wine-growing through marketing, public information and grassroots government representation initiatives.
American Wine Alliance for Research and Education (AWARE)  
Description: The American Wine Alliance for Research and Education, AWARE, is dedicated to providing a balanced view of beverage alcohol's role in society with respect to alcohol and health-related issues through the dissemination of scientific research information and the development of educational programs for health professionals, and to providing an international resource center on alcohol and health issues.
Cornell Cooperative Extension  
Description: The Cornell Cooperative Extension educational system enables people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work.
Finger Lakes Grape Program  
Description: Grape and wine production at the wholesale and retail levels is a major player in the economic base of the Finger Lakes region. Education programs for growers and many other grape and wine industry people are provided by the Finger Lakes Grape Program housed in Yates County. Research results, applied research trials and demonstrations and localized research projects provide local growers and industry representatives considerable hands-on learning opportunities. Special schools, workshops, conferences, and small meetings provide educational settings.
Foreign Agricultural Service of USDA  
Description: The web site of the Foreign Agricultural Services tells us that "The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) works to improve foreign market access for U.S. products. FAS operates programs designed to build new markets and improve the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace."

Lake Erie Regional Grape Program  
Description: There are approximately 30,000 acres of vineyard in the Lake Erie region of New York and Pennsylvania grown on 840 farms, making this the largest grape growing region outside of California. Of this acreage, 98.5% consists of Labrusca (American Grape) varieties such as 'Concord' and 'Niagara' which are used for juice, jam and other fresh or fermented products. The Lake Erie Regional Grape Program consists of Extension Educators and research faculty/staff from Cornell University and Penn State University devoted to projects aimed at increasing yields, product quality, diversity and improvement of cultivars, efficiency of production, profitability and adoption of environmentally sound cultural and pest management strategies.
National Grape Cooperative - Grape Folks Working Together

New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets

New York's Regional Groups  
Description: New York is divided into five general grape growing and wine producing regions – Lake Erie, Niagara Escarpment, Finger Lakes, Hudson River, and Long Island. Within these regions, there are several independent organizations that work at promoting their particular group of wineries or growers.

These groups coordinate special events and activities that promote the grapes, juice and wines of their individual regions.

Many of these regional groups and sub-regional groups have associate memberships which offer wine and grape related businesses to join their group and benefit from the synergy of working together.

RIT and the Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies  
Description: A Leading Source of Solutions for Manufacturers


The Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies (CIMS) at Rochester Institute of Technology provides technology assistance, testing and work force training to companies in a wide variety of industries. Through these partnerships the center has assisted firms in improving internal processes, reducing operating costs, and decreasing or eliminating the use of hazardous materials. These technology and workforce development successes have assisted firms in enhancing global competitiveness while also improving environmental quality.

CIMS’ capabilities include Lean and Six Sigma training & application, ergonomics and health & safety training, clean technologies development, reverse engineering, technology testing and implementation and facility planning.

Located on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology, CIMS represents a dynamic collaboration of in-house technical expertise, as well as academic, industry and government resources. The center can also assist firms in accessing information regarding state and federal funding opportunities for training and technical assistance.
