New York Wine is a Capital Idea
Albany - the Capital District - is the political center of New York State; whose two leading industries are agriculture and tourism. Two of the high-value products that garner much attention for New York agriculture are our grape and wine production, and some of the main tourism attractions in the State are the wineries and vineyards. We would like to encourage all New Yorkers to become more familiar with these important pieces that make up part of the diverse quilt of New York, and to introduce visitors from around the world to the products available.

Wines from New York are served in the Governor's mansion (not to mention the White House), and will enhance any special occasion you may be planning. But don't forget that a quiet dinner with family can sometimes be the most important occasion of all!

The New York wine industry is working with retailers and restaurateurs in the Greater Albany area to make it easier for you to find New York wines on their shelves and wine lists. Please feel free to let your favorite wine shop or restaurant know that if there is a New York wine that they are not carrying, they may contact us for more information.

November is New York Wine Month in Albany!
The signature event will be the Pride of New York Harvest Fest held at The Desmond on the weekend of the 11th and 12th. Join in the celebration of New York’s bountiful harvest. Experience wines from over 35 New York wineries as well as other luscious New York products…everything from jams to salsa…maple syrup to chocolate…rabbit, goat, and beef…and breads galore! If you register in time, you may get to participate in one of the educational wine and food seminars, as well as attend the Gala Tastings. For more information on events and obtaining tickets, contact the Times Union at 518-454-5307.

In addition to the events at the Desmond, retailers and restaurants in the area will be featuring New York wines all month long, so check out the list of “partners” we have in the region and pay a visit to their establishments to see what values you can find in their New York section.
